There are a lack of roads available on the app. Many roads that get traveled frequently in the northwest are not on the map. Nd roads app shows what kind of covering on the roads, if it’s snow, slush, or ice. Thats very nice to know.

On my phone I cannot access or see all of the icons. They are off of the screen.
There is nothing to explain road conditions. What do the colors mean. I assume green is good and red is closed? What does yellow mean.
I look at this app every time I am about to leave in the winter. I love that I can choose what road I want to take based on how bad the snow is. They even allow you to look at the snowplow cams so you can actually see the road. You can also see the road at important intersections.
take the camera play/pause button off the camera left select button..
Should copy North Dakota’s app. Theirs is perfect
Why has the distance between searches been deleted, makes the app worthless.
This app is useless to me if it doesn’t show issues on county roads, like flooding.
Map does not show road closure & construction that has been going on for two months.
Currently there is major roadwork between Hwy 14 and Highland Avenue in New Ulm. A roundabout is being constructed. On my iPhone I have been able to access Live Photos of construction going on, but on my iPad I am not able to access any of these features. Do you have two systems or two apps, that is not right. . . . .please fix.
We use several routes quite often around the Twin Cities and collar counties. We have found the farther you are from Hennepin and 1st, the less current data there is and the less accurate the 511 data becomes. A prime, and truly frustrating, example is Hwy 65 north, a very, very busy artery. It is under construction and modifications and lane closures. Yet the 511 “system “ says it is just fine, just normal, no problem!! Then why are we sitting in crammed lanes, slow traffic and increasing road rage, fueled by huge pickups constantly cutting us off and aggressively pushing their privileged “status” “earned by” size. I just now looked again and 511 indicates “no problem.” I’m very disgusted with 511’s minimal and inaccurate coverage. You folks should be ashamed. As my son said yesterday as he traveled north from Cottage Grove, “well that drive from 694 up the 25 miles on 65 is another hour and a half I’ll never get to spend again.” And, he checked 511 for road slow downs and closures!! Not a good system when it actually leads us into problems. Dr. Wayne Samuelson and extended families.
As a passenger in a vehicle trying to verify our route is clear of accidents, I got an error message that I need internet access. I have plenty if phone data speed. What the heck!
Useless. Maybe someone who can mind read the app can figure out how to get it to show any of the things you want to see, but none of the buttons change the view. Adding layers doesn’t either.
Worse than last app. Can’t get any real information on major incidents Highway movement whatever. Complete waste
It’s not the best way to look the app issue is frequently is out or will not work for the money that the dot spreads a year this is a very bad app Google is better than 511 I have uninstalled and will just use the google app
I live in Wisconsin and work in Minnesota. I spend a lot of my leisure time in Minnesota because I grew up there. Wisconsin has a “travel to” option in their 511. When used the 511 system tells you how the roads are for your specific travel plans.
From I35 on I90 E and W to Wisconsin
You really need to update your legend, partially covered? Completely covered? With what!? Came through on 94 on 1/5/24 and had no clue what your road condition map showed.
This app is more difficult than other. I know it’s icy and no critical reports or whatever. The old 511 was more organized and really easy to use. Do not like new change. It’s a change for the worse not better .
On Dec 26th, 2023 while driving from WI to Fargo, this app shows the roads dry and clear. Starting in Alexandria it was wet with drizzle then snow all the way to Fargo. The ND app showed I 94 as snow and ice. I find it amazing that all that stopped right at the state line. Drove all the way to Fargo with snow, freezing rain and wet to slippery roads.
Drove from Warroad to Kelliher. App showed all roads are normal driving conditions. It’s been compacted snow and ice the entire way. Please update app to show current conditions.
I used to love this. Now I can’t even start using it. Stop upgrades.
Map shows green for normal roads, and the roads are actually completely covered in ice and snow
Appreciate the app. Liked the appearance of previous version much better.
Using an IPhone. App is slow. No indication of backed up traffic Had to click on legend to read 7 mile one lane closure. But reality was stopped and slow traffic for far more than 7 mi. Old app showed shading for area of stopped/slow traffic. This app did so on some spots and not others. Also did not indicate bridge out at Phelps mill. Return to old app
Why are you relying on “drivers” for updates? Where did the section on road projects go? There is a major project in Alexandria no notifications on the app that I see. County road 82 projects coming because signs are ready to go up for detours but no info on the app
Does not show red or green as it used to
Traffic speeds should always be on the map, if you have it tabbed in the layers on the app. I always have to go back to the layers, uncheck it and then recheck it. Yes, the update worked and can see traffic speeds without having to go back and uncheck the tab and check it again. Thank you! Works like a charm
My husband and I have been using the app for years now. It’s very user friendly and has been a great help in trying to locate and find specific people and their locations. Whomever designed this needs to be aware of it’s importance. We live in Wisconsin and are not that familiar with road closures, ongoing construction and new locations for sites. Thank you very much🤗. Bob and Kathy Hirsch
This app used to show road construction and road closures but now it doesn’t any more. The only thing my map shows now is accidents. Pretty worthless
I live in a border city and compared to the other State’s 511 app this is a huge mess. MN 511 is hard to use, poorly explained, and unfriendly. UX and UI are sorely lacking. The road data is often inaccurate and that makes the app dangerous. Developers, DOT - this needs work!
Never updated and never correct on road conditions.
I use this so I can plan my routes accordingly. During one of the April storms road conditions listed as green when it should have been pink or at least blue on 28 Glenwood to Sauk center. Even after being home 2 hours it was still showing green. Roads were very very poor ice covered & compacted. Today morning commute blue which I expected & accurate on the map. This afternoon same blue at 1:30 In actuality roads completely clear /wet pavement. How can drivers report inaccurate conditions listed?
The title speaks for itself. There needs to be a more detailed evaluation than just ‘green, blue, and pink’. This app is trash.
Does not show major construction project currently in progress on State Road 41.
Color codes are used on the map, but no legend is provided. How are we supposed to know what those colors mean?
I wish there were a list of road closures & road conditions during storms, for example. It’s too hard to touch one of the spots where there are issues when there are so many, especially on a cell phone.
Well…where’s the color guide? Obviously pink is don’t be on that road. Green must be a go. So is blue water covered, boats only?
Does not update to give current conditions
This version is far less user friendly than previous versions. Overly complicated and despite using it a number of times to check winter driving conditions i still have not been able to figure out the legends. Why the need to completely revamp an app that was so good before??
I like the idea of this app but it is poorly executed. For one thing it doesn’t fit on the screen office iPhone. The edges are all off the screen. It would be nice if it could give route specific info.
Curios as to why travelers cannot update the 511 ap. We were coming back from Omaha Nebraska going to Saint Cloud. We are taking 23 East from Clara City to Willmar and it’s glare ice. 511 shows clear sailing…
Video Play is no longer available for streaming when I log onto app.
Can’t seem to turn off notifications!! If there’s a place to do that, I can’t find it!!!
I am not sure why, but it seems like the road reports this year depicted on the app are extremely inaccurate. I have witnessed in multiple occasions where the most recent road report is showing dry conditions and the roads end up being snow covered or icy. Never had this issue in years past with the 511 app, so hopefully they can get it figured out.
Works great
Great improvements to the older version… now MUCH MORE HELPFUL!
It is not easy to navigate to find what your looking for in road conditions. With North Dakota its really just straight forward. Look at the map, they’re either green for open & good road condition or they are colored. On the left of their app is a ledger of colors with the condition of the road for each color. One can also drill down to look at the actual Highway as on the MN app too, plus many of tools. I travel a lot and MN road conditions app ranks among the worst I’ve used. MN app developers should pick up the phone and talk to the states that get higher reviews, it may just help.
Many of the buttons and functionality does not work on a MacBook Pro M1. Too bad because it's very useful and would be cool to get the alerts on my MacBook instead of having to go to the site please redesign the app to make it work.
